 2022 Preview 


       Red Bay finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-7 record. Last year Red Bay just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region eight with a 2-4 region record.

       Red Bay took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2010. The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2008. The Tigers hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just two games which followed a 9-2 record in 2020.

       Red Bay was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.4 points a game.

       Since 2010, Red Bay has gone a combined 96-39. Their 71.1% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Red Bay has gone a combined 195-90. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 2A and 42nd in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Heath Childers who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-7 record in his first season at Red Bay. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Childers.

       Coach Childers' overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 28-51 (35.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Childers' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The Red Bay Tigers will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2022 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season. After just 2 wins last year, Red Bay will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Hamilton on Friday, August 19 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Hamilton Aggies finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 4A region five. The Aggies lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Madison Academy by a score of 55-0.

       Red Bay and Hamilton have met a total of 21 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 3-18-0 record against the Aggies. They last met in 2021 with Hamilton winning by a score of 40-24.
